First, Samantha came in on Thursday, right in time for an empanada party with some of my friends. Everything was delicious, and we have some equally delicious conversation. After a little wine and some empanadas, we went to Elvis (a bar) to see a concert by ska-reggae-ish band Caramelo Santo; it was pretty hot.
Then, the next evening I took Samantha to don Zoilo, my favorite gourmet restaurant in Río Cuarto. It is like a bliss explosion in your mouth. Just ask Sam.
The next day we made our way to La Cumbrecita. It was low season, so there weren't too many tourists. The town is hidden in the Sierras of Córdoba, and there's plenty of hiking that can be done. Samantha and I got a cabin that had foxes as pets (yeah, foxes), and then set out to explore. The town itself is a tourist trap with expensive food and crappy crafts, but the surrounding area is magnificent. We hiked around all day, enjoyed some coffee and German dessert, and then took a siesta as we watched Breaking Bad on the tv in the cabin.
Sunday we had a little bit of free time, so we decided to be bold and go up the Cerro Wank, a tiny mountain (or really big hill) with a magnificent view.
Just sitting on a mountain drinking mate. No big deal. |
It was great.
